Chapter 5 - Two Weddings and a Funeral.

Well I was right... there was a funeral, it just wasn't who I was expecting it to be. Anyway, all in good time my friends. Alot has happened since last we joined the Bartletts

Chapter 5 - Two Weddings and a Funeral.

Harry and Karyn were extremely excited about their wedding, so excited in fact that they held it the very next day. Things went exactly as planned, although an awful lot of people turned up dressed.... inappropriately, inlcuding the Bride! (I have Snaifts True Nudist clothing, and it seems to like randomising onto it....)

It was certainly an interesting ceremony, Good thing they didn't invite any children.


Elsewhere, things were not going so well for Harry. As he was new to the stylist game people were poo-pooing Harry's makeovers before they had even had a chance to get used to them. To get revenge, Harry decided to show one particularly difficult client what a truly bad makeover really looked like.

While his brother was marrying the woman of his dreams, and shattering other peoples. (dreams that is) Charlie finally found himself a girlfriend! Her name was Shanita Baker. Technically she was his second cousin, but when pickings are lean, beggars can't be choosers.

Things quickly developed, and as Charlie was just 2 days away from becoming a Young Adult he proposed to Shanita. (apologies for the nakedness AGAIN, they had just Woohoo'ed (Baxim's extended EGC - Naked Woohoo)

While this was going on, Karyn became pregnant with her and Harry's first child. I'm not so sure I approve of her choice in Maternity Wear though....

Next day, Charlie aged up into a Young Adult. Immediately he began to make plans for the wedding.

For some reason, Charlie forgot that his bride was still at school, and arranged the wedding for 12pm. While the guests were waiting for the bride to put in an appearance, (they would have to wait until 4pm eventually) One of the guests Jenni Goode actually died of boredom!.

Eventually, the bride put in an appearance, and the wedding went ahead, Charlie left the Bartlett household to make a life for himself with his new bride Shanita.

(apologies for the poor lighting in that shot.They got married in the evening, under Tree's in Twinbrook. Apologies also for Karyn's nudity... she appears to have an aversion to wearing clothes to Weddings, even when pregnant)

Finally, Millie has got herself promoted to Superintendant, and has reached the top of her career. Unfortunately, I doubt she will be there much longer as she is now 86.

That seems like a good place to leave it, with Generation 2 having grown up and either flown the nest, or preparing for Generation 3. Challenge Note: I have started on the expansion to the house, but it isn't finished yet. Hopefully I will have scraped together enough funds by next time, and I can show you the finished article.

Next Time: Generation 3 is born, and Millie (probably) passes over. (depending on how much happens between now and her death. If alot happens then I will make another post)

Chapter 4 - Tis better to have Loved and Lost.....

With Harry's repeated failure to get a girl his own age, he began to look at more "mature" women. Heading out to Twinbrook Community Gardens, he soon met a woman named Carly Treaver. Deciding that he had nothing to lose, Harry set about wooing her, giving her flowers, chocolates, and generally flattering her. Things went extremely well between them, so much so in fact that Harry proposed!

Things were going swimmingly, and the wedding was all arranged. Then, disaster struck! It all started the day after Harry's 18th birthday. Finally he was legal! No more sneaking around, they could express their love freely! Or so Harry thought....

Harry's Dress sense seems to have improved. Maybe he won't make such a bad stylist after all.


As soon as Harry became a Young Adult, the first thing he did was to head on down to the Styling Salon to sign up for his dream career of being a Stylist. (Well actually his LTW is to be a Grand Master of Chess, but that doesn't pay the bills)

With that out of the way, he called up Caryn, sure she would be eager to wish him a Happy Birthday, Caryn came to the house, but immediately Harry knew something was wrong. Caryn would barely let him touch her, just the day before she had been all over him. Harry asked her what was wrong, and she confessed that she wasn't looking for a mature relationship, just a bit of fun. Realising that there was no future in their relationship, Harry broke it off, and ate an entire tub of Ice Cream to cheer himself up (Yes I know its a girly thing, but come on, he wants to be a stylist!)

To make matters worse, just 2 minutes later, Millie broke the dishwasher! Feeling very angry now Harry phoned for a Repair Technician, and sat on the sofa generally feeling sorry for himself.

Harry's luck was about to change though, for the Repair Technician, was a woman. Not only a woman, but a beautiful woman. Harry felt his stomach jump as he looked upon this vision of lovelyness. His voice barely a whisper, he asked her out on a date at the Red Rendevous the following night. To his delight she agreed! "Wait!" he cried as she was about to leave. "I don't even know your name!" She flashed him a winning smile and just said "Its Karyn" before leaving.

The date went swimmingly, with Harry and Karyn hitting it off immediately. As the night went on, Harry asked her opinion on Marriage and Children, and she told him that she wanted both, so very much. Could this night get any better?

Well actually, yes it could! Harry asked Karyn back to the house, and they just couldn't resist each other. Soon they were ripping each others clothes off and Woohooing in Millies bed!

Things were going so well, that Harry for the 2nd time that week, proposed. Karyn immediately accepted, obviously excited at the chance to start a family. She even offered to give up her career as a repair technician to help raise the children. As she left, Harry began to ponder, "Hmm, this house is getting a bit crowded.... perhaps its time to expand)

(Challenge Notes: Yes I know, I haven't achieved ANY challenge milestones for the 2nd Generation yet, thats coming next time. the Expansionist rule, and probably "Couple and two children" will be fufilled. For those of you wondering whats happened to Millie and Charlie, well Millie is now Principle of Twinbrook's School, and Charlie is.... well to be perfectly honest, he isn't doing a huge amount. There are still no available Teen girls in Twinbrook, and he is just waiting to age up so that he can stop being a spare part. Millie is getting on a bit now, it may well be that she will pass over next time.)

Chapter 3 - When Harry met Sonja (and Kitty and Lou)

Getting fed up of the constant teasing from his younger brother, Harry hit the Gym hard. In just a couple of days he went from Fatso to Stud. (thanks Lytefoot for suggesting it

Even better from Harry's point of view, Millie announced that he was to be the heir! He had always been her favourite child, although she knew technically she shouldn't have a favourite, and now that he had his weight problem under control, she decided that he should be the one to carry on the Family Legacy. Charlie was understandably not happy, but Millie promised to buy him his own house to live in when he grew up.

Armed with new confidence and good looks Harry started to think about girls. Luckily for him, there was no shortage of teenage girls at his school, and he set out to find himself a lady friend.

First, he tried to sweetalk one of his oldest friends Kitty Wolf by comparing her to a rose :

Then he offered to take Sonja Appleton on a romantic holiday:

He even tried seducing Lou Yu, (by saying she smelt of garlic? Any Idea's what that's meant to be?):

In retrospect Harry felt that trying to seduce a Policewoman, in uniform, while he was still a minor was probably a mistake.

It seemed that every girl in Twinbrook was either too old for him, or had a boyfriend. (Stupid Twallan Story Progression.... uninstalled it now, hoping it fixes things a little)

Meanwhile, while Harry was demonstrating his romantic skills, Charlie finally aged into a Teenager.

and Millie into an Elder:

Mille has decided not to retire from Education but will carry on for now, as both her sons are unemployed teenagers and need financial support.

Chapter 2 - Growing Pains

I know I said I wasn't going to tell you what I rolled for the 2nd Generation until I had decided on an heir, but for the following post to make sense you need to know:

Primary Income: Stylist (yeah I've got 2 straight boys who want to be stylists....)

As promised here are Harry and Charlie as they were at the beginning of the story of this post:

 Harry appears to have inherited his Dad's fat genes, Nelson was big and muscly, Millie is hoping that he also inherits the muscle too, otherwise he is just going to be fat,

Chapter 2 - Growing Pains
Harry immediately took to painting, producing many fine pieces of art that Millie proudly displayed on the walls of their home (Challenge Note: I can't sell the paintings, as generation 2 are stylists, also I did use Hand of God (HOG) a little bit, because I had to, I made the Sims take the painting from the easel, and then HOG'd it to the wall. Otherwise they would have ended up with an inventory full of paintings)

Meanwhile Millie was teaching Charlie how to talk (outside for some reason.... I had to buy a light for them to properly illuminate this screenshot) so that she could get on with working her way up the Career Ladder.

As the days rolled by, Millie got herself promoted to Assistant Principle! This meant she only had to work Monday-Thursdays, although most of the weekend was invariably spent giving lectures at the school, to boost her job performance. Harry continued to paint away, with the walls literally becoming covered in his work.

Finally, Harry and Charlie both had their birthday's within a day of each other, Harry becoming a Teenager, and Charlie becoming a Child.

Teenage Harry

Harry appears to be getting very fat with no sign of muscle. At this point I was going to declare Charlie the heir until....

Charlie as a child.... Is it just me, or is he ugly?

Charlie also appears to have a bit of belly, but it isn't as bad as Harry's was at his age, is there hope yet?


(Challenge Note: At this point, I was expecting to have my heir, and I was fairly sure it was going to be Harry ( I havent changed any of the clothes it chose for them, come on that boy was born to be a stylist ;)). Now though, I don't know... I like Harry's face. but he is massive, and he is only going to get bigger. Charlie is.... well he isn't the prettiest Sim in the world, but hopefully that will correct itself when he ages up. I'll have to make a decision when he becomes a teen because Harry will be nearly a YA)

Generation 1 - Millie Bartlett

I apologise for the lack of screenshots, I only decided to blog this once Harry and Charlie had aged up to Child and Toddler respectively, screenshots will be in the next post!

Meet Millie Bartlett, 18 years old. Millie has just moved to Twinbrook from Sunset Valley, to get away from her overbearing parents. They had her life all planned out for her, she was going to join the family business, and become the CEO of Doos Peas Corporate Towers, like her father, and her fathers father. Millie however, had other ideas. Millie wants to be a teacher, but her parents would never allow it, so she ran away in the dead of night to Twinbrook, which is where our story starts now.

Due to the overbearing nature of her father, Millie is naturally distrusting of all men, although she wants to be a mother of two, she will not give herself in matrimony to any man. She is determined to raise her children as a single mother. She inherited the Neat trait from her mother and father, and wants to do something "Awesome" with her life.

Upon arriving in Twinbrook, the first thing Millie did was to buy an empty 40X40 lot, figuring there would be plenty of room to expand into. then she went and signed up to be a Playground Monitor, sure the pay may be bad, but from there she can build herself up to maybe one day become a teacher. With that out of the way Millie headed off to Twinbrook Community Gardens just across the road, to try and find some new friends. As soon as she arrived, she met a teenage boy named Newton Baker, he began to hit on her, in that cute inexperienced way that teenage boys do. Millie found it cute, having never kissed a boy before, her family telling her there was no time for romance, only work, Millie found herself attracted to this cute lad, after all he was only 2 years younger than her, hardly anything.

Even though she knew that it was inappropriate, as she now worked for his school, Millie couldn't help but flirt back, she found the rush of seducing this schoolboy exhilerating, even Awesome! soon though it was time to go home, and Millie headed back to the lot she had purchased. "Hmm, I'm going to need somewhere to sleep" she thought, and immediately called a builder, who in no time at all, put her together a basic house with a bathroom, bedroom and kitchen/living area, as well as the basic amenities.

Next day when she got home from work, Millie phoned up Newton and invited him round. When he turned up, Millie was delighted to see that he had grown to be a Young Adult. Immediately she turned her charms on him, and before the night was through, they found themselves in the bedroom, and Millie lost her virginity to Newton.

Over the course of the next two weeks, Millie concentrated on her career, quickly working her way up to High School Teacher, and using the money from her bonuses to make a nursery, so that her legacy could begin. Once that was complete, she phoned up Newton and invited him over, soon they were in bed and making love once more, this time without protection. Millie wanted a baby!

Unfortunately, things didnt go well for Millie and Newton straight away, it took over a week of making love every single night before one day while at work Millie began to feel sick. Could it be? Could she be pregnant? She didn't dare let herself hope, but secretly she was jumping for joy inside.

Of course, Millie was pregnant, and 3 days later gave birth to a wonderful baby boy named Harry, who was born with the Artistic and Schmoozer Trait. Being a career woman, Harry was often left with the babysitter while Millie went and worked on her skills to advance in her career, but Harry grew up to be a healthy bouncing toddler. As soon as he aged up, Millie set about Potty Training him. With Harry now not needing constant attention Millies biological clock began to tick again, and she once again called up Newton, asking him to donate his sperm one last time.

It only took 2 days for Millie to get pregnant this time much to her relief. During that period Millie aged up to be a full Adult and got promoted to Department Head. Although Millie was hoping for a girl, the fates decided that another boy was her destiny, and 3 days later little Charlie was born.

Millie made good use of her maternity leave, using that time to build Harrys skills, and teach him to walk and talk. She did such a good job in fact, that Harry aged up to be a Genius! There were double celebrations in the Bartlett household that night, as Charlie aged into a toddler too.

You may notice I haven't put Harry and Charlies random goals up, thats because I havent decided who is the heir yet, when I do, I will update this blog and write the goals into their story, like I have with Millie.

In the Beginning

As a long time Sims 3 Fan I have been looking for a Legacy challenge to perform. Nothing appealed, until I found the Random Legacy Challenge. http://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=410530

The rules are simple. Each generation randomly generates a set of "random conditions" to fufill during their lifetime, from their marital status, to how many children they can have, to various miscellaneous challenges such as "throw a party every week" etc. I won't bore you with the details, just read the link. The important thing is that unlike other legacy challenges, there is no scoring system. You either win, if you manage to get to 10 generations fufilling your challenges, or you lose if you don't. Simples.

This is basically for my own amusement, so I can keep track, but I will be updating regularly, so if anyone is actually reading this, then watch this space :)

Before I begin, I should say that I am using a couple of Mods, but it doesn't tip the balance in my favour, as my mods are just to make things more "realistic"

Mods which could affect the challenge:
Baxims Extended EGC with Inteen3. - I have the following aspects enabled:
Teen Woohoo/Households and all tuners that enable dreams/wishes etc. for the above. Basically Teens can do everything that Adults can do except for get a proper job. (this would tip the balance in my favour, but it is tempered by the next one)
Oopsie Baby + Planned Baby - natural conception odds (this counters the Teen romance options, because it is harder for me to get a baby when trying for one, and also if an Oopsie Baby takes me over the limit of children for the generation, then I lose, I normally play with the "Abortion Clinic" to counter Oopsie Babies, but for this challenge I have disabled it, otherwise it would be too easy not to lose)

My other Mods are just small cosmetic changes, such as "Eat Leftovers" and one which stops babies sex from being influenced by fruit.

Anyway :) enough babbling, On with the Challenge!
